After Nodar Kumaritashvili’s tragic accident yesterday NBC aired an extreme video of Nodar Kumaritashvili’s crash during the event which resulted in his death. The 21 year old Olympic Luger lost control of his sled during the training event and smashed into steel pole at high-speed. He was rushed to hospital after serious head injuries and blood all over his face.
This crash video of Nodar Kumaritashvili thrown out of his luge and hitting his head to the steel pole at 90 miles per hour created a controversy as many people are questioning if authorities really had to air it. During the live telecast the video was stopped abruptly as they realized the seriousness of Nodar’s accident as he was given mouth-to- mouth and flown off the ground for hospital.
The video went viral on YouTube and many other video sharing websites but within hours it was brought down from most of the websites.
Accident investigation is in progress and report has not been released yet. This accident has also questioned the security of other players at the 2010 Winter Olympics. As we saw the comments on YouTube and other websites many people have mentioned the requirement to raise the security standards.
