USA Women’s Hockey Romps Over China, 12-1
Winter Olympics 2010, Vancouver, Canada, in the first game of the Winter Olympics women’s hockey tournament USA women’s hockey romped Chinese team, 12-1 on Sunday. The leading scorer for USA women’s hockey was Jenny Potter who scored three goals in first 22 minutes and also became the leading scorer in USA women’s hockey Olympic history.
Other scorer was Meghan Duggan who scored twice for U.S.
China was trailing behind with 11-0 till the remaining 2:21 in the game, but scored in the last minutes of the game.
USA women’s hockey ranking No. 1 in the International Ice Hockey Federation is seeded second here and started their Olympic campaign with their Group B member China on Sunday noon PST at University of British Columbia’s Thunderbird Arena.
The U.S. team has never lost to China at world championships and Olympics and has outscored China, 73-7, in all those games and just bettered their record here by beating China. Team China ranks at No. 9 in the world and has less than 200 players to choose from. Team china didn’t even qualified for Turin Olympics and hence a lot was expected from them at Vancouver Olymoics, but nothing special was seen.
