University at Buffalo Relinquished

The library on the suburban Amherst campus of University at Buffalo was relinquished Tuesday night, in response to a call that campus police got reporting a mistrustful person in the building, probably with a gun.

Spokesman for the University at Buffalo said, “Right now all we have is report of seeing a distrustful person. The campus police is taking it gravely and is performing a thorough search. Though, no shots have been fired and no suspicious activity has been reported in the building and campus.”

An e-mail alert regarding the Lockwood Memorial Library reporting cancellation of evening classes has been issued by University police at about 4:40 p.m.

Claire Kerstein, a freshman, was attending his English class in the ground floor of the building when the librarian came in and, devoid of explanation, ordered everybody out.

The 18 year old freshman said, “I ran as fast as I could, and just thought and made sure that I reach a safe place. There was police all over the building”

The library of University at Buffalo is the biggest library in the State University of New York system and is kept open for public. There were ambulances and Police cars all over at campus entrances on Tuesday evening.

The news of evacuating the library has been confirmed, but any confirmation on the call is yet to be received.
